Managers: How Do You Take the Pain out of Fleet Management?

debb0020A survey commissioned by RAC in Spring 2014 found that four in five SMEs devote less than six hours per week to fleet management. This was largely due to not having a dedicated fleet manager.

This is despite Lex Autolease’s October 2014 Report on Company Motoring. That report revealed that 81% of commercial vehicles are deemed as business critical and 78% of firms’ nominated fleet managers are acutely aware of the duty of care they have towards their employees and the vehicles they drive.

So why the disparity between the importance of fleets and the actual care taken with them? “Managing a relatively modest couple of dozen vehicles can prove demanding, but often ends up falling under the remit of another role such as the Finance or HR Director”, explains Alan Locke, MD of AYCEN Group.

“One cost-effective way of taking the pain out of managing a comparatively small vehicle fleet is to entrust its oversight to an independent garage offering fleet management services”, continues Alan.

Caring for small businesses and professionals in the Greater Manchester area, AYCEN is a prime example, caring for all car makes and models, along with light commercial vehicles. “We always put our customers first and make life as convenient as possible for them, providing courtesy cars, collection and delivery, plus using state of the art equipment”, continues Alan.

He added: “Caring for the whole gamut, from warranty cover and routine servicing to ad-hoc accident repairs, typically all carried out with shorter lead times than main dealers, keep organisations’ vehicles in peak condition and out on the road”. “That is where your vehicles make money and really start to add value to your business”.
