Is there such a thing as a free lunch?

Is there such a thing as free Lunch? Probably not. There is always some catch or ulterior motive for any “free” offer.
Is my “free” offer of an MOT with any Mercedes service any different? No
It really simple it’s not that I’m giving anything away it just that I’m not charging you twice for the same things as others are.
Let me explain:-
The MOT test is a fixed procedure, it is set and monitored by V.O.S.A. a government run organisation. This MOT test cannot be deviated from. The tester has a set list of items he must check on the car then give his opinion as to whether the vehicle passes or fails. Click on the link if you want more details of what is involved. Full list of the MOT test checklist.
A service is the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations as to how best to maintain your car or van during its life. This service is not a fixed list. It changes on the age, mileage travelled and even your driving style. Click the link for more details. Why servicing changes with the way you drive
Many garages do not even follow the manufacturers recommended list and have generic lists of their own that cover the majority of items that most manufacturers recommend!!
Whether the service is generic or manufacturer specific it touches on many of the points that have already been inspected in the MOT test. If the MOT has just checked that your headlights work and the service schedule says check headlights why would you do it twice? More importantly why would you the driver pay for the same job twice?
All my “free” offer does is use common sense and not duplicate the same job. Hence if the manufacturers service time is 2 hours and if we remove the remove the duplication from the MOT test and save our technicians 40 minutes time when doing the service why would we charge you for it?
